Great Tribulation:  The Life and Times of Hugh Mundell

another midnight raver project

Hugh Christopher Mundell, "the blessed youth," was a young reggae singer who at the age of thirteen wrote one of the most hopeful, influential and deeply meaningful albums of the great "golden age of reggae."  Africa Must Be Free By 1983 is considered a legendary, almost prophetic record by music critics the world over.  In a career that lasted only five short years, he recorded five critically acclaimed albums and performed for audiences throughout the world before being gunned down on the streets of St. Andrew, Jamaica.  He was 21 years old.

This is his story.
